On the afternoon of July 18, 2018,  a Canadian media delegation led by Ms. Sarah Kutulakos, Executive Director and CEO of the Canada-China Business Council (CCBC) visited Menergy’s Headquarters in Nanjing, Jiangsu. The delegation included the Toronto Star, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and other media. Ms. Jiang, Xiaoming from the China Institute of Foreign Affairs and Ms. Liu, Lian  from the Jiangsu Foreign Affairs Office accompanied the delegation. Dr. Wei, Binqing, Assistant to the President of Menergy, Ms. Zhang, Zhudan, Executive Officer of Menergy and Mr. Zhao, Qipei, Assistant to the General Manager of Nanjing Menergy Equipment Co. met with the guests on behalf of the company. 

Dr. Wei described Menergy’s development, core advantages and landmark projects since it entered the Chinese market in 2005. The delegation asked questions regarding the application of geothermal energy, economic features of the products and supporting policies for related industries of the government. They understand that the Chinese government is paying more and more attention to the clean energy industry in its 13th Five-year Plan; geothermal energy is part of clean energy. Supporting policies for the geothermal industry have been issued by municipal and provincial governments, which means the relevant market will soon reach 1,000 billion RMB.

The delegation was invited by the China Institute of Foreign Affairs so that Canadians will have a better understanding of Chinese economic and social development. It also aims to showcase the results of cooperation result between Canada and China and provide further discussion on the possibility of free trade between Canada and China as well.
